ABOUT US
WFYFC Is part of the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs
We may be small, but we pack a good deal in!
We are now into our 87th Year with Miss Charlotte Taylor (Malmesbury YFC) taking the Chairmanship for the second year. The County team being completed with Mr Paul Leighfield as County President, Mr Jonny Taylor (Purton & Cricklade YFC) as County Vice Chairman and Miss Sophie Taylor (Malmesbury YFC) as Rally Chairman.
It's been a tough couple of years for YFC with covid putting a dramatic halt to many club fundraising programmes. However, over the previous years members have enjoyed raising the funds with: Tractor Runs; Providing refreshments for Tractor Runs; Ploughing Matches; Harvest Balls; Coffee Shop; County Clay Shoot; Countryfile Ramble; Firework Parties and Barn Dances. As well as supporting many local events and charities from Soap box racing; Open Farm Sunday; Armed Forces Day; Carnivals; Raft Racing; Operation Christmas Child and helping out in Bath serving hot food to the homeless.
Regular Club programmes have also been full with evenings learning disco dancing; Jump Rope; Farm Safety Training; Flower Arranging; Cooking; Public Speaking; Carol Singing; Skittles; Trampolining; Stock judging; Calf Handling; Lambing; Scavenger Hunting; Hedge laying and Fence erecting, along with the numerous Farm visits across the County and beyond. Not even mentioning the work and practice for the competitions at the County Rally.
Further afield members have competed at South West Area and National Finals in Jump Rope; Tug of War; Public Speaking; Flower Arranging and Stock judging and Fencing.
All rounded off with lots socialising at a huge variety of parties and events.
